Speedy signs £6m sole supplier deal with Tube Lines
Tube Lines has signed a two-year £6m sole supplier agreement with Speedy – the UK’s largest equipment and tool hire company.
Speedy will provide a comprehensive package of tools and equipment to Tube Lines, including tools, lifting gear, accommodation, communications solutions and bespoke training packages.
Specialist equipment will also be provided when required – Speedy recently supplied an acoustic shroud for overnight work taking place near the Ritz hotel.
Philip Constable, head of distribution services at Tube Lines, said: “We have worked with Speedy for just over a year and have consistently been impressed with its excellent service levels, product range, training offering and commitment to health and safety.
“Its environmental and sustainability initiatives were also an important factor in our decision, as we are committed to promoting best practice in this area - Speedy will be using its electric ‘Modec’ vehicles to transport additional equipment and tools to site when required.”
Darren Tomkins, market manager at Speedy said: “With a comprehensive product and service portfolio, we’re able to meet Tube Lines’ broad and diverse needs through a single point of contact.
“In addition, with our ‘One Click’ extranet, we can offer clear and detailed account management information - including electronic invoicing- for the company’s hire needs.”
Tube Lines is responsible for all maintenance and upgrade work on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines. It also provides a number of services across the network, including the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), distribution services and trans plant.
This latest sole supplier deal follows a series of large-scale agreements secured over the last few months with the likes of Interserve, Southern Electric Contracting and The Environment Agency.
