Shearings wins top travel award
Shearings Holidays has been voted ‘UK Escorted Tour Operator’ at The British Travel Awards (BTA) - the travel industry’s number one awards scheme.
The Wigan-based operator won the prestigious award as voted for by holidaymakers and travel industry professionals. Shearings was also named runner up in both the Best Escorted Tour Operator and Best Tour Operator to Central and Northern Europe categories.
Caroline Brown, commercial director for Shearings Holidays, said: “Being recognised across three significant categories in these awards is a huge achievement for Shearings and shows how we are continuing to successfully establish ourselves as a leader in the escorted tour sector.
“Our 2011 programme shows just how far we’ve evolved, with a product range that now spans from the traditional escorted tour, which we are renowned for, to a wide range of diverse flight, rail and cruise holidays across Europe and beyond.
“We’re extremely proud of our dedicated and professional team of staff that have helped us to achieve this success.”
Shearings was ranked alongside other big industry names including Thomas Cook, Saga and Cosmos in the awards, which received more than 220,000 votes this year.
The announcement follows the launch of Shearings new 2011 brochures which include over 40 new UK & Ireland tours, over 20 new European tours, 11 worldwide tours to destinations including Australia, Canada and New York and three exclusively chartered sea cruises.
