Shearings set for largest UK Setra fleet

Shearings Group has announced further investment in Setra with an order worth over £10 million for 45 coaches in 2011.

It’s the third successive deal in as many years for the Wigan based market-leading escorted tour operator and will bring the total number of Setras belonging to Shearings Group to 135 – making it the UK’s largest fleet and just over half of Shearings’ total fleet.

Announcing the deal, Shearings Chief Executive, Denis Wormwell, said: “Since we began investing in new Setra coaches in 2009 our customer satisfaction levels have been exceptional.

“Setra are renowned for their quality, reliability and green credentials, making them the perfect partner to enable us to provide enjoyable travel experiences for our customers as we continue to expand our coach offering into 2011.

“What’s more, the introduction of Setra coaches to our fleet has reduced our passengers’ carbon footprint significantly, thanks to the improved fuel economy of their coaches.”

The announcement follows the delivery of 45 coaches in April this year and 45 coaches in 2009.

The order is due for delivery in April 2011.

To date the Setra vehicles have covered more than 4 million miles for Shearings and 2.5 million miles for National Holidays.
