Shearings launches summer in the city breaks
Shearings has created a series of summer city breaks to help travel agents take advantage of the growing popularity of good value, quick getaways.
Based around six routes with a small number of pick up points, customers across the north, midlands and south of England can get an express service to a number of top European destinations. Each features a quality hotel in a central location, allowing holidaymakers to explore their surroundings on foot as well benefiting from Shearings’ escorted tours of key sites.
Prices start from £199 per person and include breaks to Paris, Bruges, Ostend and the Somme Battlefields.
Caroline Brown, commercial director for Shearings, said: “By concentrating on express travel and central hotels, we’re helping customers to maximise every minute of their trip. These are key selling points for each of the breaks.
“For example, the Paris tour now stays at a recently renovated, superior 3 star hotel in heart of Paris, in the vibrant Bastille area. Traditionally, coach tours have tended to stay way beyond the city limits, but these tours are all located in city centre hotels within the destinations.
“Also, by selecting classic short break destinations and pricing them competitively, we’re helping retailers take advantage of a stronger than usual market. We’re already seeing good levels of demand as a result of people wanting alternatives to a main summer holiday, either due to economic concerns or the recent publicity surrounding disruption to flights.”
Shearings has also launched a series of 2-night, UK breaks also featuring express travel from a smaller number of local, pick up points in each region. These are based on the same thinking as its European offering, combining good value with traditionally popular destinations.
