Scunthorpe firm scores with prestigious rugby contract
A Scunthorpe-based contractor has just completed the £3 million new 1,600 seat stand at Doncaster Rugby Football Club.
R J Cadman Construction, a family-run business, finished the new two-floor DeMulder-Lloyd Stand at Castle Park, home of the Doncaster Knights in just eight months, on budget and on time.
This is the latest bit of good news for the £12 million turnover firm after it recently scooped a regional ‘Built In Quality Award’ for its work on The Village, at Low Laithes Farm near Barnsley. The project combined a refurbishment of existing farm buildings with sympathetic, custom-built new accommodation.
The new stand houses two match day sponsor’s lounges, each with a restaurant and bar and prime pitch viewing, hospitality boxes and public facilities in the main concourse including Knight’s Megastore and food outlets.
The company has been a member of leading industry trade body National Federation of Builders for 10 years and used their range of professional services to help complete the job.
Ross Cadman, managing director at R J Cadman Construction, said: “This has been a very prestigious project for us, and we’ve had to work to very tight deadlines. The guidance we’ve received from the NFB has been invaluable – especially the use of their health and safety and training advice lines. The fact that we are only a phone call away from quality, free advice has been a real benefit.”
Marie Hill, regional director for the NFB, said: “There is a lot of bad news surrounding construction at the minute but we are continuing to see many firms like RJ Cadman Construction bucking the trend - winning work and delivering it on budget.
“As a Federation we help promote this success by, in addition to the help lines, offering email alerts to keep members up to date with the latest in local and national issues and making sure all member companies have access to template policies, letters and contracts.”
The NFB represents over 1,500 builders and contractors across England and Wales. In addition to providing specialist advice and business services, the Federation, with a network of eight regional offices, lobbies local, national and European government on a range of issues to sustain positive trading conditions for members.
