New homes get the green light in Melton Mowbray
Plans to build 60 new homes in Melton Mowbray have been given the go ahead by local councillors to help respond to strong demand for family homes in the area.
Morris – one of the country’s largest privately-owned housebuilders – plans to build a selection of high quality properties including one, two, three and four bedroom homes on a 3.7 acre unused brownfield site off The Crescent.
Chris Lilley, regional managing director for Morris, said: “We’re continuing to see a strong demand for quality, affordable family homes in the region and are confident these properties will appeal to local buyers.
“We have developed a number of other schemes across Leicestershire, working closely with local authorities and government agencies to construct well-designed, energy-efficient housing developments which provide sustainable communities for their residents.
“Melton Mowbray is a very sought after location and we’re expecting a great deal of interest in these properties.”
As well as being within walking distance of the town centre, the development is just a short drive from the railway station and provides good links to Leicester, Nottingham and London. The area offers a range of good schools, making it particularly popular amongst those with young families, and nearby attractions include country parks, historic buildings and Twinlakes Park.
The scheme, which has a projected development value of £8.75 million, is part of Morris’ plans to provide a total of 250 new homes across 13 new sites in the East Midlands region. A number of further sites are being considered over the next year.
