First timers in Wem welcome chance to buy
A Wem developer is reporting a rise in the number of buyers looking to purchase a property under the popular HomeBuy Direct scheme.
At its Saxon Fields development on Aston Street, housebuilder Morris has seen an increase in enquiries for the Government-led initiative, with seven properties recently purchased under the scheme.
Among the buyers to benefit are Hannah Fairclough (23) and David Johnson (24) who jumped at the chance to buy a two-bedroom home at the popular scheme.
The couple took advantage of HomeBuy Direct, which enables qualifying buyers to purchase a new home with a mortgage for just 70 per cent of its value and without needing a large deposit.
Hannah said: “We were keen to buy our first home and move in together, but didn’t have enough savings to be able to put down a large deposit, meaning that we simply couldn’t afford most of the properties on the market.
“We were very impressed with the quality of the homes at Saxon Fields. We always knew that we wanted a new build property so that we could put our own stamp on it, and the HomeBuy Direct scheme put a home at the development within our reach.”
David added: “We’re getting married in October and are really looking forward to starting our life as a married couple in our fantastic new home.”
Julie Smith, regional sales director for Morris, said: “The HomeBuy Direct scheme can help lower homebuying costs significantly and is a great opportunity for first time buyers who want to get on the property ladder but, so far, have been unable to afford it.
“We’ve already helped a number of buyers move into their dream home through the scheme.”
Morris currently has a range of two and three bedroom homes available at Saxon Fields, starting from just £97,825*. The development is located in the centre of Wem within easy walking distance of the train station which offers regular services to both Shrewsbury and Manchester.
