Downsizers discover benefits of buying new in Wolverhampton

Grandparents Vincent and Sandra Hancox are enjoying the best years of their lives stress-free after discovering the advantages of buying a new home.

Deciding to leave behind the hassles of maintaining their four-bedroom family home, the Wolverhampton couple have downsized to a new two-bedroom, ground floor apartment at Morris’ Claremont development on Wellington Road, Bilston.

Vincent said: “We made the decision to sell the four-bedroom house as it was becoming increasingly difficult for us to maintain it and, with our children now all grown up and having their own kids, we just didn’t need all that space.

“We wanted a property that would be more manageable for us, but which was still spacious enough for our grandchildren to come and stay whenever they liked. This two-bedroom apartment was the perfect solution, and the fact that it’s on the ground floor means there’s no stairs to tackle every day and we can easily keep an eye on the grandkids while they play outside.

“It’s great knowing I no longer have to worry about things like drafty windows or fixing the roof. Everything’s superbly finished and maintenance-free, plus moving home has given us the excuse to have a good clear out of all our clutter!”

The Grade II listed former Bilston Girls’ High School in which the development is based is particularly special to Vincent.

He continued: “I was born and raised in Bilston, and attended the boys’ school there. Every year we would all go to the Christmas dance at the girl school. Who’d have thought that, all these years later, I’d be living in the very same building?”

As a new-build home, Vincent and Sandra’s property is covered for the next 10 years by the NHBC (National House-Building Council) warranty, which provides cover against any construction defects.

Julie Smith, regional sales director for Morris, said: “These homes are ideal for people looking for a quick and stress-free move and we have a number of apartments that are ready for the buyers to move into straight away.

“Claremont is a beautiful building set in its own grounds and those who come here tend to fall in love with the properties and their setting. Vincent and Sandra have shown that the versatile homes at Claremont can be easily adapted to suit a wide range of needs.”

Morris is currently offering to help buyers speed up their move with its 100 percent part exchange scheme, which allows them to sell their existing property directly to Morris removing the risk of the sale falling through.
