York Designer Outlet hosts the 5th Young Enterprise Trade Fair

Young local entrepreneurs will be preparing to do business for the Young Enterprise Trade Fair at the York Designer Outleton Saturday 6th February to compete for your custom and demonstrate their business and creative skills.

Students from a variety of schools and colleges across York, aged 15-19, will be promoting products they have manufactured as part of the Young Enterprise Company programmes. The Young Enterprise Company programmes provide young people with the chance to gain practical business experience by running their own company over the academic year.

Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase creative and innovative products which include recycled jewellery, greeting cards, personalised clothing and a safe driving campaign. Students will be selling their products between 10am and 4pm in the north entrance of the Outlet.

The Trade Fair is one of more than 300 Trade Fairs run throughout the UK by Young Enterprise, the national business education charity. Founded in 1963, Young Enterprise runs a range of business and enterprise education programmes for more than 320 000 young people each year through the support of more than 3000 UK businesses and more than 11,500 volunteers.

Notes to editors

The Young Enterprise Programmes are based on the theory of “learning by doing” and are designed to be practical, hands on and fun. Students learn about business first-hand, through setting up and running their own real company with the help of volunteer advisers from business, or through in-curriculum classes presented by a volunteer from business.
