Bridgend Designer Outlet scoops safety award

Bridgend Designer Outlet has been recognised as one the safest shopping centres in Wales.

The outlet has been awarded the highly prestigious Five Star Award from the British Safety Council (BSC) for excellence in promoting, co-ordinating and overseeing measures which contribute to a safe and secure shopping environment for its visitors.

Alun Rix, facilities manager at Bridgend Designer Outlet, said: “At Bridgend Designer Outlet we are always investing in ways to make our shopping environment safer and secure.”

The Five Star award was achieved following two days of auditing through December 2009 by the BSC. The Five Star audit reviewed the health and safety performance of the business, from a management level through to the implementation of associated systems in the workplace.

Undertaking the audit confirmed that opportunities to improve operational performance have been achieved resulting in improved safety performance and reduced rates of accident, injury and potential litigation costs.

Alun added: “We are thrilled to be recognised for all the hard work that all of our staff have put in to ensure that every visitor’s trip to Bridgend Designer Outlet is enjoyable and as safe as possible.”

Bridgend Designer Outlet, which is open until 8pm weeknights, is located just off junction 36 of the M4 and offers more than 90 leading brand names such as French Connection, Ted Baker and Karen Millen, all offering discounts of up to 60% off typical high street prices.
