People who work from home get more time in bed

New research shows people working at home get an average of 46 minutes extra in bed a day.

The study of 1,000 homeworkers found 30 per cent get an extra hour in bed each day compared to when they had a traditional job.

One in eight (12 per cent) people who work from home get two hours extra in bed each day, while more than one in 20 gets three hours extra between the sheets.

An incredible 1.3 per cent of homeworkers claimed to get an extra four hours in bed each day, compared to when they travelled to work.

Getting more time in bed is one of the key reasons that some workers give up the daily commute and work from home, according to the research by catalogue firm Kleeneze.

More than three per cent of homeworkers said having a lie-in was a key reason for giving up their office or factory job. A similar number said no more commuting was key, while others like to choose their own hours and have flexibility around family life.

A Kleeneze spokesman said: "Clearly people who work from home are getting more time in bed and many are using that time to get more rest or spend the extra time with their partners, which is beneficial to a happy and healthy relationship.

"Our research shows that homeworkers strive to escape stressful times like commuting, long hours and early mornings.”

It’s not just family life that benefits from people getting more sleep. It’s also key to productivity, according to a survey by the Better Sleep Council, which found that lack of sleep caused a decline in quality of work, poor judgement and trouble retaining information.*

Kleeneze has over 5,000 opportunities across the UK available for people wanting to start their own Kleeneze businesses. It has reported a 32% increase in new starters this month, compared to the same period last year as more people look to earn extra income or benefit from more flexible working arrangements.
