Keoghs launches report into future of disease claims
Specialist insurance law firm Keoghs has published a report predicting future ‘hotspots’ in disease litigation.
Disease Futures pulls together the views of leading experts from the UK and the USA, highlighting the claims areas that are set to become more common, discussing the legal debates surrounding controversial conditions including pleural plaques and noise-induced hearing loss and tackling the question of how insurers can make claims-handling more effective and efficient.
Contributors to the report include Ian Harvey – senior claims manager at Aviva, Mike Klaiber – Disease Claims manager at Zurich Insurance and Michael Rawlinson – industrial disease specialist at Kings Chambers.
Also commenting is Gary Rodrigues – a specialist in DNA mapping techniques from the US-based Cytokine Institute as well Chris Philips – a consultant at Keoghs and one of the country’s best-known disease litigation experts.
Gary Fitzpatrick, head of the disease team at Keoghs and another contributor to the report, said: "Disease Futures has been created to bring together some of the leading lights in the disease litigation arena to share their views on the challenges that face insurers and their claims handlers in the coming years.
"We not only address which current claims areas will grow, and which new areas could emerge, but also how insurers and their representatives can harness process-led methods to drive down the cost of handling these claims.
"The report provides a captivating overview of industry views, offering a thought-provoking insight into the changing landscape within this fascinating area of law."
