Hyder appointed to prepare Shoreham Port masterplan
Hyder Consulting, the international design and advisory consultancy, has been commissioned to prepare the masterplan for Shoreham Port near Brighton – located within one of the south east’s biggest regeneration areas.
The masterplan is being developed for Shoreham Port Authority, one of the organisations in the Shoreham Harbour Regeneration Partnership – which also includes the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and three local authorities. The partnership is working to achieve economic, social and infrastructure improvements to the Port land and wider area.
The region has been awarded Growth Point status by central Government, recognising the need for regeneration assistance to ensure sustainable growth which includes support of the local communities, businesses and new housing.
Over the next twelve months, Hyder will focus on developing a robust and flexible masterplan which ensures that regeneration proposals contribute to the port’s success and which meets guidance from the Department for Transport (DfT).
Andrew Henderson, managing director of Hyder Consulting UK's Land Development and Buildings sector, said: “This is an extremely important project for the area, as it will establish the strategic direction for the future development of the port.
"The appointment is a major win for Hyder, consolidating and enhancing our profile in the sector and demonstrating fantastic teamwork in putting together a compelling and high-quality bid."
Rod Johnstone, outgoing Chief Executive for Shoreham Port Trust, said: "We had a number of excellent submissions and the decision was certainly not an easy one but we are confident that Hyder can help us deliver an excellent Shoreham Port Master Plan."
