A 75 year old tiara is new jewellery trend thanks to Duchess of Cambridge
Kate Middleton has Manchester brides looking to the past for style inspiration, reveals leading jewellery retailer Hancocks.
Since the royal wedding last weekend, the store has had no less than four separate queries as to whether they can create a tiara like the one Kate wore for her big day.
The halo tiara worn by the Duchess of Cambridge as she married Prince William was loaned to her by the Queen. She herself was given it by her mother, who received it from the then Duke of York, just three weeks before he became King George VI.
Comments Steve Highton of Hancocks; “As diamond specialists we often create full ranges of jewellery for brides, using the first purchase - the engagement ring - as the basis for the range. We do not traditionally get enquiries about tiaras; they tend to be more personal, loaned items, as illustrated perfectly by the Duchess who borrowed her Grandmother-in-law’s tiara for her big day.
“Although it is 75 years old it clearly resonates with today’s brides, demonstrated by the fact that we have had four enquiries about creating something similar in just four days.”
