Manchester families swap holidays for stay-cations

Families in Manchester are swapping their annual summer holiday for more value days out at home according to bus operator First.

Use of First Manchester's FirstDay tickets has increased by 68% compared to the same period last year showing that more families are opting for bargain days out this summer.

Claire Johnson, commercial director for First Manchester, said: “The stay-at-home trend means that more families are exploring their own region and discovering fun days out that won’t break the bank.

“Greater Manchester offers many wonderful attractions, from museums and parks to canal and railway trips many of which are free entry.

”Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry and Urbis are among our most popular attractions this summer.”

To help families make the most of the summer break, First has put together a guide to the region’s top attractions and is offering passengers special promotions including discounted tickets and a chance to receive a free FirstWeek ticket - allowing the passenger a week of free unlimited travel on all First services.
