Local children help raise money at First bus charity race

Children and families from across Greater Manchester helped raise much-needed funds for charity by taking part in a fun run and bike ride.

More than 150 people of all ages attended the Mini Monster Challenge, hosted by bus operator First, in aid of Save the Children.

Claire Johnson, commercial manager for First in Manchester, said: “We’ve had a fantastic turn out from families, groups of friends and office teams and it was a really fun and worthwhile day.

“Last year, Monster events raised over £150,000 for charity, and we’re hoping our support will help to beat that target this year.”

The event took place at Philips Park, opposite Sports City in East Manchester. Money raised from the event will be spent on working with youth groups in areas of Greater Manchester.
