First launch Christmas giveaway on Bury buses

Passengers in Bury are getting an early Christmas present from bus operator First which is giving away over £1000 worth of free bus travel.

Passengers on the 135 service will get the chance to find free festive toys that are hidden on the buses, many with a further prize of up to a year’s free travel.

More than 160 soft toys will be planted randomly on the 135 buses on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd December.

Claire Johnson, commercial director for First bus, said: “We wanted to do something to spread Christmas cheer on our buses and our giveaway has been designed to do just that.

“Everyone is thinking about Christmas and shopping and this is a fun way to reward our existing passengers and encourage others to take the bus to the shops instead of driving.”

Each toy will have a ticket attached to it with details of the prize. Among the prizes are more than 100 FirstDay and FirstWeek tickets as well as the chance to win an annual ticket which is eligible for a year’s free travel.

The reindeers will be put on the vehicles in the morning but they will be hidden somewhere on the vehicle so any passenger can be lucky enough to find one.

The 135 service is one of First’s high frequency routes which runs between Bury and Manchester Piccadilly and offers a night service until 3am at weekends.
