Bus passenger pockets £250 with lucky ticket
A Rochdale dad is looking forward to treating his family after winning £250 thanks to a lucky bus ticket.
Stanley Harper, 48, a regular user of the 409 Rochdale to Ashton route, won the cash after entering his ticket in First in Manchester’s Travel To Win prize draw.
Stanley, who works as a cable technician, said: “I can’t believe I won the cash just by collecting four of my FirstWeek tickets.
“I get the bus to work every day so to win this money thanks to my bus tickets is a massive bonus. I don’t know what I’m going to spend the money on but I think my wife and son already have a few ideas.”
The Travel To Win promotion was held to celebrate the launch of 17 new eco-friendly double deck buses on the 409 route which links Rochdale, Oldham and Ashton.
The service operates every 10 minutes Monday-Saturday daytime.
Claire Johnson, commercial director for First in Manchester, said: “Our investment in these new eco-buses demonstrates our commitment to delivering a high quality, reliable and punctual service for our customers.
“We’re always looking at new ways to encourage more motorists to consider public transport as a safe, sustainable and cost effective alternative to the car and our prize draw was a fun way of rewarding the customers who travel with us.”
First in Manchester, which carries approximately 100 million passengers each year and operates 800 buses, is committed to improving transport services for the people of Greater Manchester as well as protecting the environment.
