Strategic Heysham site comes to market

Drivers Jonas Deloitte has been instructed to dispose of a 42-acre industrial estate in Heysham, Lancashire.

The site which provides more than 280,000 sq ft is owned by Northern Tissue Group, who occupy approximately 190,000 sq ft within the estate and who will consider a possible sale and leaseback.

Situated close to the existing nuclear power stations Heysham 1 and Heysham 2, and near the proposed location for Heysham 3, the site is strategically located among a cluster of some of the UK’s biggest nuclear facilities.

Drivers Jonas Deloitte says the estate, which is also close to Heysham port, is an ideal candidate for conversion for alternative uses within the waste and energy sectors.

The estate has a current rental income of £190,000 per annum with only a one per cent vacancy rate.

Steve Capper, industrial agent from Drivers Jonas Deloitte in Manchester, said: “Heysham is a hugely important location within the UK’s energy sector both in terms of a growing nuclear presence and for its potential to foster new types of power generation through renewables like bio-fuel.

“The industrial estate is ideally placed to serve the local energy sector as well as being within close reach of Heysham’s port and the M6 motorway, so it boasts a strategic position to attract new occupiers from growing industries.”
