Drivers Jonas Deloitte to oversee new £45m Blackpool hospital

Property consultants Drivers Jonas Deloitte has been appointed to project manage a new £45million inpatient mental health hospital on behalf of the Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Construction of the 143-bed development, designed by architects BDP, will begin next year at Whyndyke Farm, near Blackpool.

The Trust has commissioned the work in a bid to provide state-of-the-art mental health care to Lancashire patients.

Once completed, the hospital will feature facilities designed to promote recovery and social inclusion. The building itself is planned to provide a therapeutic environment for patients with plenty of access to outdoor space and gardens.

DJD will use the Department of Health’s Procure 21 framework to tender for suitable contractors.

Ben Brookes, assistant director at Drivers Jonas Deloitte said: “The specialist design of the hospital is unprecedented and will provide patients with the best possible environment in which to rest and recover.

“The architecture that has gone into planning the site’s development is unique as it aims to deliver a building which isn’t just functional but also optimizes the patients’ treatment.”
