csl saddles up with Citypress
csl, the sofa retailer, has appointed Manchester communications consultancy Citypress to manage its PR brief following a competitive pitch.
The family-owned company, which operates 16 stores across the North of England, has drafted in the Faulkner Street agency to handle a consumer and corporate campaign.
csl, which was established by the Tyldesley family as a single store near Burnley in 1984, has grown to become one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing sofa retailers. It is headquartered in Wigan. It recently reported a 51 per cent increase in total sales for the year ended 31 December 2009 with turnover reaching a record £72.5m, up from £48m the previous year.
Citypress will help the retailer communicate its commitment to product quality and customer service, as well as its financial stability as an established, family-owned company.
Jason Tyldesley, csl’s 36-year old managing director, said: “We’re not like other sofa retailers - we’re building our business on the back of good value products that are built to last and a retail experience that’s at the cutting edge, driven by the latest technology and training. This has always been the philosophy behind csl - we want to reach out to people and help them understand the brand.”
He added: “In our sector, a lot of companies such as Land of Leather, MFI and Courts have gone belly up and customers have lost heard-earned deposits overnight. Our financial stability and success as a family-owned company is an important message of reassurance for customers.”
Charles Tattersall, managing director of Citypress, said: “csl has a compelling customer proposition and business model. We’re using a mix of traditional and digital media to help customers engage with the both the brand and the business in order to support its continued success.”
