Citypress wraps up home delivery account

Whiston based HDN, which delivers to over 1.7m postcodes via a 50-strong depot network and 2,500 drivers, provides services for over 140 retailers, including online shopping giants such as ASOS and Tesco.com

Citypress has been appointed to help position HDN as the partner of choice for customer-focussed online retailers through an integrated digital and PR campaign. The parcel carrier is targeting further growth as demand continues to increase.

Figures from Verdict show that online and TV retailing is growing at more than 10 per cent, outstripping total retail growth by almost three times. The recent IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index shows that UK shoppers spent £22.9 billion online in the first six months of 2009.

Citypress director Martin Currie said: "There's a quiet revolution taking place in online shopping, with customers looking for greater choice and flexibility over how and when they receive their goods. The brands that are winning are those embracing change, empowering their customers and providing the best possible customer experience, not just online but all the way to the front door.

"HDN's track record in the so-called 'final mile – what happens after you click 'buy' – is unrivalled. Our approach will be to leverage its market leading products, capabilities, expertise and process control, using the success of its retailer clients to support the company’s proposition and bring it to life."

Mike Snell, Sales and Marketing Director at HDN, said: "This is an exciting and dynamic sector that is undergoing massive change. HDN is committed to leading the way through innovation and service excellence. Reaching the retailer community with that message and showcasing the success of our retailer partners is critical as we seek to grow our share of this expanding market.

"The team at Citypress demonstrated, an in-depth understanding of our market and true insight into the drivers in online retail. Their approach is disciplined, research-led and evidence-based, and we look forward to working with them."
