Brother dominates colour MFC market in the face of downturn
Office tech specialist Brother has grown sales in its colour laser MFC category and now occupies the top five slots for A4 machines in this category, according to the latest Context figures.
The company’s market share has increased in mono and colour laser printer and inkjet all in one, despite the downward trends across the industry in all three of these markets.
But its biggest success story in the 16ppm and over colour laser MFC category, where Brother’s sales have grown by 24% YOY and where the company has the top five biggest selling A4 machines.
Brother’s inkjet multifunction sales are also performing well, with the company’s market share increasing and its A3 models accounting for £4.4m worth of revenue for 2009.
Overall in laser, Brother has grown its volume sales by 5% in the face of a market slide of 6% and there are eight Brother products in the mono laser top 20.
Terry Caulfield, head of P&S sales, Brother UK, commented: “These new figures prove that whilst the market is declining in places, there are still opportunities for growth if you choose your products and your partners wisely. They are a testament to our quality product offering and excellent working relationships with our channel partners. I can’t overemphasise the importance of the channel to our continued success and we’re lucky to have such a dedicated reseller base to work with.
“By working closely with our reseller partners, we’ve developed a good understanding of how we can support them to maximise sales – a strategy that certainly seems to be paying off according to these latest figures. Our channel strategy is backed up by a solid and innovative product offering. Our A3 inkjets, for example, have proved extremely popular in the SME market and our colour figures overall demonstrate that Brother is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the colour market.”
