Monk Fryston landlords are bucking the trend

Two Yorkshire landlords are showing that good pubs can still succeed, despite the credit crunch, by opening their second venue – the Crown Inn in Monk Fryston.

Helen and Shaun Firth have re-opened the Admiral Taverns owned pub, on Main Street, with a new team of staff and a new look, following the success of their first pub, the Hungry Fox in Beal.

The pub, which re-opened on Tuesday 1 December, will have a new home made food menu, real ales and themed events such as Champagne Sundays. An upstairs room will also run as a restaurant on weekends.

Helen said: “We managed pubs for many years before taking on our own pub business and we’ve never looked back.

“We’ve done a lot of research into the local area and finding out what the locals want from the pub so we’re confident it will be well received by the community.”

Gary Stafford, business development manager for Admiral Taverns, said: “Helen and Shaun are great examples of landlords that have the drive and passion to run successful pub businesses. Being able to take on a second pub in the current climate is testament to their hard work and years of experience.”

Admiral Taverns have a number of pubs available in the Leeds area. For more information about running a pub, contact Admiral Taverns’ recruitment team on 0845 070 8950 or visit www.admiraltaverns.com
